2015 GT-R Nissan Nismo Edition vs. the 2015 Nissan GT-R Reviewed – Which one do you want?

Some would say I have expensive taste, but I say I know what I want and work hard to get it. Today’s blog post is going to be two of my favourite cars from Nissan in review – the 2015 GT-R Nissan Nismo Edition and the 2015 Nissan GT-R. First of all can we please take a moment to admire just how beautiful both cars are?

In general, the GT-R is one of the fastest production cars that money can get you. But what is a production car you may ask? Essentially, it is a vehicle that is mass produced with identical models, offered for sale to the public, and can be driven on public roads legally.

2015 GT-R Nissan Nismo Edition

Let’s start with the 2015 GT-R Nissan Nismo Edition. This stunning vehicle costs $151,585 which is significantly more than its counterpart – the regular Nissan GT-R. The reason the price is so high for this car is because it costs a lot to produce, making it the most expensive car that Nissan has ever built. It costs $34,380 more than the second most expensive GT-R in the group.

With its twin turbocharged, six cylinder engine this beast is able to reach 600 horsepower and 481 lb-ft of torque, a 50 horsepower and 18 lb-ft torque boost over the regular GT-R model. It uses new high-flow turbochargers, an upgraded fuel pump, and optimized ignition timing to achieve this.

Other performance tweaks have been added to this version as well, including a unique tuning set up to the four-wheel independent suspension, which helps reduce weight and add additional stiffness. Nissan has also added a new front bumper and a new carbon fiber spoiler, adding 220 lbs of extra downforce at 185 mpg.

2015 Nissan GT-R

Take a deep breath and release it before beginning your drive in this car, especially if you have an open road ahead of you. From full stop to 60 mph, it takes 3 seconds, an experience only few drivers can actually say they have been through. This is definitely a dream for many car makers, however there are only a few cars that have the ability to perform this well.

This car really is a beast disguised in sheep’s clothing – a 545 horsepower one at that. Gearheads are drooling at the sight of the exterior, but to the regular eye there really doesn’t look like there’s much to the design. There is a small wing on the trunk of the car, but it’s not something that would look out of place on a family sedan. The wheels are large, same with the brakes within, and the gold calipers seem to finish the look off. The performance of the car makes up for the lack in appearance though, I promise.

As mentioned before, the GT-R packs a 545 horsepower engine under the hood, which contributes in large part to the high performance it’s able to achieve, however the same amount of credit should be given to the advanced drivetrain that is wedged underneath. This car has a dual-clutch, six speed transmission, which is spun by a driveshaft that runs from front to rear. The transaxle splits power between the back wheels and a second driveshaft, which runs up to another differential in the front.

The car costs $101,770 making it almost a dream to be able to purchase one, hence the reason that you don’t see too many on the road. With that being said, if you are willing to put your plates on it, and risk your insurance, all while looking good and turning heads on the road, go for it!

Final Thoughts

First time drivers of GT-R’s in general, don’t get the real feel for the car’s ability to reach high speeds, unless they take it to an open deserted road, an empty parking lot, or even a drag strip. The GT-R is such a beautiful car (if only from my perspective) that has so much potential. So which one would you want?
