Relive the Moments of the 2018 Auto Show
The 2018 Auto Show was really one to remember. I mean think about it, life was great back then, we were FREE to go wherever we wanted, spend time with friends and family, and even TRAVEL. Now times are very different. Sure there was a 2019 Auto Show, but 2018 was definitely one of the last ‘normal events’ we experienced within society. Trust me, if time travel was possible, I would go back and stay in the past.
Now let’s talk about what a beautiful looking car this is….I mean DAMN, I would give that car a second look if I saw it on the streets FOR SURE! This model was nominated in 2018 for “Race Car of the Year” at the Professional MotorSport World Expo Awards and ended up winning, which is not surprising at all. This car just seems to be making history in so many different ways – it was also the first BMW M Motorsport car to be equipped with power sticks; having 33 class victories to its name AND just under 100 podium places, both in its debut year alone!
You Were Inspired By What???
BMW created this car with inspiration from another one of their cars – BMW M4 Coupe. It comes equipped with 11 x 18 inch black alloy wheels with 5 hole mount, S55 straight six engine (adopted from the BMW M4 Coupe), and an adjustable AP Racing pedal box, just to mention a few features. It also has a racing exhaust with a 431 horsepower engine under the hood. The biggest benefit to this car HAS TO BE the gas – it can hold 33 Gallons (yes that’s right 33 GALLONS) of fuel.
$$$ Makes the World Go ‘Round
I’m pretty sure if you are like me, you can’t wait to get your hands on one of these. Well guess what? You can! Although this car was specifically designed for racing, it was available for the public to order for purchase as of 2018 for just under $190K (yeah the future looks bright, but $190K for a car…hmmm..if only).
Auto Show History – The Root of My Inspiration
Time for a little history lesson! Since my blog is geared mainly to newbies, I thought a proper introduction into the Auto Show was necessary. The Canadian International Auto Show is Canada’s largest auto show in existence. It has been running out of Toronto, Ontario (Metro Toronto Convention Centre) since 1974! Annually tt sees about 300,000 visitors, and the event is always in February. Essentially it’s a meeting place of like minded car enthusiasts who are interested in seeing what the wonderful world of automotive has to offer for the following year (in terms of car models).
My inspiration into working in the automotive industry actually came from a conversation I had with a student representative from Georgian College taking Automotive Marketing. All my life, I have been surrounded by car enthusiasts – whether it was friends or family – and so when I heard I could make a career out of my passion, I nearly jumped at the opportunity. I also really enjoyed being part of the business world in society, so combining my passion for cars, and interest in marketing, I discovered Automotive Marketing – a course only offered at Georgian. Long story short, I ended up at Humber to pursue a general degree in Business Marketing. I still have the hope that one day my dream of working with cars will come true.
