2025 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray
Hopping on the environmental bandwagon that the car companies have seemed to turn into a trend within the past couple of months, I figured why not write about the Electric Performance car Chevrolet released onto the market last year for this year’s model. That’s right, I’m writing about the 2025 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray this week and what a looker it is. Whew!
New for 2025
First things first, what’s new? Previously this car only came available in 14 different color options with 10 of the 14 colors having an added charge associated to it. This year however, the color options have been reduced to only 10, with new interior and exterior colors – Competition Yellow Tintcoat and Hysteria Purple – joining the exterior palette. The interior is now also available in Habanero upholstery or with newly available blue stitching that comes when the black interior is opted for. And as if Chevrolet needed to add anything else to this car, there’s more. New customization options now include yellow brake calipers and a leather steering wheel cover – which is standard on the lower trim levels.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
The Corvette is definitely one of Chevrolet’s more expensive Performance cars and with good reason – you have to pay for nicer, finer, looking things. And although they have different trim levels, the pricing is relatively close to each model so it’s not necessarily that one model will be cheaper by a lot than the other. Generally for the 2025 models, one would be looking at anywhere between $108,595 (for the base model – 1LZ Coupe) and $126,545 for the top of the line model (3LZ Convertible). This of course is standard pricing without the added costs for the paint colors and other packages Chevrolet offers with these vehicles.
As mentioned above, Chevrolet offers the E-Ray in two different versions – Coupe and Convertible (which comes with a power-folding hardtop). Car and Driver Magazine recommends upgrading to the 2LZ version simply because more options are offered with this model. Added features include but are not limited to:
- A heads up display
- A wireless smartphone charging pad
- A 14 speaker BOSE stereo system
- Blindspot monitoring
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
When it comes to what lies under the hood, I was super impressed to find out this is a hybrid vehicle. It features a 6.2 litre V8 engine (borrowed from the Stingray that makes 495 horsepower and powers the rear wheels VIA an 8 speed automatic transmission) plus a 160 horsepower electric motor that sits on the front axle and powers the front wheels. This creates the all wheel drive setup allowing this car to make a combined 655 horsepower.
The battery pack is quite small with only 1.1kWh but this helps the vehicle to travel up to 45 MPH on electric power only for shorter distances in what Chevrolet calls Stealth mode. Now a quick overview of Stealth mode cause this is new for me too. Watch this short video below to learn more about it! It’s quick, we promise.
Another thing that might shock you about this vehicle is that it can be driven in the wintertime. That’s right, a sports car that can be driven through the snow? Where can I get one? Chevrolet highlights this point when trying to sell this car but equips it with high performance all season tires that come standard. If it can drive in the wintertime, why not sell it with winter tires? But they do however offer something called “summer rubber” which they sell as an option for this car.
In terms of performance the cornering grip is something that makes this car stand out and is even considered to be “heroic”, and although the extra weight of the car from the battery pack and engine presents itself when the weight factor is brought into play, it is something that will for sure go unnoticed on the twisty roads when you’re behind the wheel. This car, although some would not recommend doing this, can also be used for the everyday errands (especially if you want to do them in style).
0-60 MPH
In the 0-60 MPH test this car managed 2.5 seconds – and this is with both the electric motor and V8 engine working at full capacity. It took the title from Car and Driver Magazine as being the fastest Corvette they have ever tested on their test course – even quicker than the Corvette Z06 Coupe (rear wheel drive and 670 horsepower).
Fuel Economy Ratings and Real World MPG
For the fuel economy ratings, the E-Ray is actually slightly less efficient than the standard Stingray with a rating of 19 MPG city and 24 MPG highway (1 less than the Stingray).
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
The only thing that makes this version different then the other two sister/brother cars in the family (Stingray and Z06) is the powertrains. Other than this, the interior is identical. It features two seats that can be customized material wise in the following ways – leather, imitation suede, metal, or carbon fiber trim and the roof can be removed! Well, in the coupe version only, but the roof itself can then be stored in the trunk which of course is close to the engine compartment. The rear trunk can hold two golf bags, while the smaller front trunk offers luggage or cargo space – that is, when the roof is stowed.
The steering wheel (as shown below) is of a rectangular shape and there is a 12.0 inch reconfigurable gauge display and a large infotainment touchscreen angled toward the driver for easier use. There is even a special feature on the screen that allows the driver access to “special pages” that provide readouts for the electric motor and gas engine power and torque.
All in all this car is definitely designed with the driver in mind, with the cars climate control buttons and everything else needed to be adjusted here and there while driving, all easily accessible.
Infotainment and Connectivity
Originally in the 2017 models (across their lineup), Chevrolet equipped these with a system called Chevy MyLink. This was what drivers used to connect their smart devices (phone and tablet) and it came with a navigation system which included a 3D view that could be fullscreen.
In 2019, the company changed the name to Chevrolet Infotainment 3 and the “Plus” version is used in the 2025 E-Ray. This features an 8 inch touchscreen with Bluetooth audio streaming, a 4G LTE mobile hotspot, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Capability. The system is user friendly and responds quickly to commands.
Safety and Driver Assistance Features
This vehicle comes with a wide range of safety features that come standard. They are as follows – get comfy, the list is long:
- Automatic emergency braking
- Front pedestrian and cyclist braking
- Active stability control with traction control
- Traction control, all speed
- Performance traction management (may require additional optional equipment)
- Daytime running lamps

- Limited warranty covers 3 years or 36,000 miles
- Powertrain warranty covers 5 years or 60,000 miles
- Hybrid components covered for 8 years or 100,000 miles
Final Thoughts
We have made it to the end of this post but there is so much more to the Corvette E-Ray to discover. Why not head over to Chevrolet’s official website for more details and to get your hands on one (and then make sure to come back and read other posts that I have on this site).
