Cars in Review: 2026 Ferrari EV SUV (Luce)
If you’re like me and can’t believe how fast the time is moving, then take in the fact that next week is Easter in Canada…Crazy right? I’m sure by now, my readers have figured out that instead of posts every 2 weeks, we decided to make them publish on the last Friday of the month. It just feels so much easier to do this with school and trying to have a life outside of school and work, and I appreciate your continued viewership. So without any further ado, let’s get into the second most expensive Car Review of 2026 (so far) – the 2026 Ferrari EV SUV.
If you had to do a double read at the title, we don’t blame you, it is quite shocking to see Ferrari hop on the Electric Vehicle trend, although, if it is anyone that should be in terms of a luxury vehicle, then Ferrari is your company. Ferrari has such a strong brand presence worldwide and is such a recognized name that the only shocking thing would be that they decided to wait this long to release an Electric Vehicle. This will be Ferrari’s first electric vehicle ever so let’s see what they decided to do with this new car.
This blog post will be written out a little different than other Car Reviews, simply because the car being written about has yet to be released. It was rumoured that it would be early 2026 that sales would start, but Ferrari hasn’t confirmed anything yet, so it will be a waiting game – a quite expensive one to say at the very least.
Overview
Starting with the price tag, expect to pay anywhere around $680,000-700,000 CDN. Still interested in this car? We thought so! Cause I mean we all have that type of cash just sitting around waiting to be used, right? Despite my sarcasm, there are actually people that can afford it, so this post will be more informative to you. For the others like me, keep dreaming on and one day anything will be possible. Now, if you know the brand, you will know that Ferrari strives to make their owners feel special, and they went above and beyond for this car. By the end of this post, we are sure that you will want to be part of this exclusive club (and not just cause Lewis Hamilton represents them in F1 racing) but after understanding what makes Ferrari different in comparison to the other luxury brands, we are sure that your heart strings will be tugged at enough to convince you.

Ferrari introduced this car to the market at such a high cost for one reason only – and no, it wasn’t because they are Ferrari and decided to do whatever they wanted – it was because they wanted to introduce a model that represented high luxury, exclusivity, and high performance rather than just a plain old boring electric vehicle. It’s not to say other factors like covering their research and development costs, advanced technology, and only the best of the best working on the car itself didn’t have anything to do with it of course, and then there’s the completely new factory they built to focus solely on the production of electric vehicles, but we will touch on this last point shortly. As Ferrari does with all of their vehicles, they weren’t planning on pulling the brakes anywhere with this new project. It was all or nothing for them, and for Ferrari, it’s never nothing.
Talks began as early as 2019 for the production of this vehicle, shortly after the company released its first hybrid models. It was immediately decided that production would remain in Maranello, Italy, as the rest of their cars were already being produced there. But Ferrari decided to dedicate a whole new plant for just Electric Vehicle production, a move that most definitely will prove to be wise in time, as the company continues to expand its product offerings. From within this new factory, electric, hybrid, and internal combustion engines will be produced, as well as its own electric motors, inverters, and battery modules. The location measures at roughly 42,500 square feet and costed 2 million Euro (approximately 3.15-3.21 million CAD) to manufacture.
Engine
As mentioned, Ferrari is producing engines within the factory that manufactures this car, which means the engine they plan on putting into this vehicle will be produced there as well. Under the hood of this spectacle you will find a quad motor setup consisting of a 122 kWh liquid cooled battery. The battery itself is quite impressive, coming with a large maximum voltage of 880 volts, and a range of over 329 miles, helping this vehicle to make 1000 horsepower, at a top speed of 200 miles per hour. This family sized electric SUV is also rumoured to be able to go from 0-60 MPH in only 2.5 seconds.

Creator and Why So Special?
Besides being branded under the Ferrari name, this car is more special than just its brand association. What some people might find interesting to learn is that this release is actually the work of Sir Jony Ive – does that name sound familiar? For those Apple users or fans as you like to call yourself, this name means more to you than others – that’s right, this is the man that steered the design path of Apple, alongside the infamous Steve Jobs. Now with Ive being an avid gearhead, it was no surprise when the headlines started being released in 2023 rumouring that Apple was trying to get into the automotive industry, even going as far as to project a release of their first car in 2026. These rumours quickly turned to facts before Apple pivoted and shifted their resources into leveraging its software expertise to create an even more conventional electric vehicle. In the meantime however, Ive saw the chance and took it, a decision he would not regret. Within a matter of 7 years, he left Apple and started his own company called LoveFrom – a creative collective of designers, architects, musicians, filmmakers, writers, engineers, and artists. Alongside his long time friend, Ferrari’s executive chairman John Elkann, and Ive’s current business partner, Marc Newson, the three undertook this adventure.
Now although we won’t be able to see or get any teasers of the interior until May, it is confirmed that LoveFrom was the company that spearheaded the redesign of the interior and its user interface which really will occupy headlines to come for many years. Okay, now the part that I am sure many of my readers are eager to find out more about – the design, if only described through words. The main story behind this car will surely be the materials used to build and manufacture it, among being Ferrari’s first electric vehicle of course. The environmentalists will be happy to know this car contains 0 plastic parts although this is part of the reason why the price tag for one of these is so high. From within the factory, it is said that there are handfuls of work stations with each component laid out disassembled waiting to be added on to this history in the making car and surely the workers are all eager to be part of this moment.
When it comes to the steering wheel, the 12.86 inch instrument binnacle is a piece of artwork within itself. With its rounded off edges and no plastic on the wheel column, it leaves the viewer wanting to learn more. Majority of what is seen in terms of construction material for this vehicle is anodised aluminium and even the elements and parts that aren’t always seen are designed and crafted with obsessive care. Aluminium is the best material for precision machining and has been cut down from solid billets using 3 or 5 axis CNC milling tech. The result, according to Ferrari, is an ultra thin surface hexagonal cell microstructure that is eye capturing. Of course, an element like a security screw is hard to avoid on the exterior, although like Apple devices (which use Pentalobe screws), it is always justified aesthetically.

Then there’s the dials themselves which Ive and Newson both admit are influenced by avionics, old helicopters specifically. There are a total of three principal dials, with the centre one delivering the pertinent information. For this aspect, LoveFrom and Ferrari sought out Samsung’s help, shocking I know, to get the slim-line overlapping OLED (organic light-emitting diode) that covers the individual pixels, which can be turned on or off independently. There is a perfect black to infinite ratio called a “Parallax” – the really cool view you see that shifts depending on the angle that the object is being viewed from. Of course there are the clever lenses and dial graphics that are found in all Ferrari’s but another really cool and interesting part is the physical needles themselves. They are made from anodised aluminium as well and back-lit by 15 LED’s.
These were just a couple of parts we wanted to touch on, but to find out more, please visit the website linked here.
Final Thoughts
If you are eagerly awaiting the release of this vehicle, you are not alone. Remember, the closer it gets to the release date, is the more information that we will learn, so remember to do your research.
