Friday Feature – Spotlight: Meadow Rain Walker

Meadow Rain Walker, born November 4, 1998, is the only daughter of Paul Walker and Rebecca Soteros, who also goes by the name of McBrain, – his then girlfriend. Growing up, Meadow was kept out of the spotlight that was surrounding her father – as per her mother’s wishes – but grew into her own later on in life.

She was born and raised for part of her life in Hawaii and once she turned 13, she moved with her father to California. Unlike most of the other celebrities who had kids out of marriage, Paul raved to whoever he could about Meadow. He really loved her and was very proud of her.

Working with his fellow cast members on the Fast and Furious movie sets Paul developed a close relationship with them – even getting to the point of considering them as his family – so much so, that he named Vin Diesel as Meadow’s godfather.

Meadow became very interested in show business early on in her schooling and was a very bright student overall. When visiting with her father, she enjoyed spending time on the sets of whatever film her father was working on then, which in a sense got her to become part of the casting family, especially in the case with the Fast and Furious movies. Most of her visits to her dad were over the holidays.

When she was 19, she got her first modelling gig signing to DNA Models in 2017. The next year she got signed on with an agency called Women Management, the same agency that represented big names like Behati Prinsloo, Daphne Groeneveld, and Hanne Gaby Odiele. Dealing with her father’s death wasn’t easy for her, but she surely didn’t let it stop her from becoming a success of her own.

Aftermath of Paul Walker’s Death

Being daddy’s little girl, a death of this kind, especially how tragically it happened, is not something that is easy to cope with. Since she was living full time with Paul, a custody battle arose between Rebecca and Cheryl Walker, Paul’s mom. Cheryl Walker filed legal documents in an attempt to gain guardianship over Meadow and went as far as to reportedly allege that Rebecca was not a fit mother to take care of her due to issues with alcohol. Reports show two separate incidents (2003 and 2013 where Rebecca was arrested for drunk driving). However, before the matter made it court, the two sides came to an agreement and while Meadow was happy with the arrangement, she became estranged from her father’s side of the family.

A charity organization called ‘Paul Walker Foundation’ was started by Meadow in 2015 after she inherited all her father’s assets, which made her a very rich kid. Together, she and her godfather continue to run the foundation.

She also created a lawsuit against Porsche in 2015, claiming that the car her father was in had some faults. The accusation was that the company had not installed sufficient safety features that were in fact being advertised by them. Although it took a few years, in 2017 she agreed on a settlement with the company which in turn led her to be criticized by others through social media. The terms were not made available to the public.

Here Comes the Bride!

Wedding vibes are in the air! In August 2021, TMZ reported that Meadow was engaged to Louis Thornton-Allan. Walker took to Instagram on August 9, confirming it by posting a silent video of her showing off the ring in a pool. Everything seems to have happened so fast for the two, as they only made it Instagram-official four weeks prior, when Thornton-Allan posted a snap of Meadow calling her his best friend. Her fiance is an actor – an up-and-coming one at that, as he doesn’t appear with any credits on IMDb, however he did attend Stella Adler, a famous acting school in New York City.

Her godfather, Vin Diesel, walked her down the aisle, and fellow actress Jordana Brewster was in attendance at the wedding. Diesel remained close to Meadow ever since her father died, really fulfulling his godfather role to her. In a statement released to Vogue, Walker talks about her wedding saying, “We couldn’t have imagined it to be any more perfect and personal—and honestly it was easy and simple. Louis and I knew exactly what we wanted from the start….It was a very intimate celebration.”
