Top 7 Luxury Cars on the Market for 2022
We made it to another year! I hope everyone had a good new years and let’s hope that by the end of this year, the pandemic will be over. Here’s to wishful thinking! Without further delay, let’s get into today’s blog post.
2022 Rolls Royce Ghost Black Badge
There’s nothing wrong with wanting luxury, and Rolls Royce makes sure to make this known, creating one beautiful car after another. I have to say personally though that this car is definitely one that if I had the money for it, would purchase. The interior is stunning with the professional look expressed through the dark black and blue finishes – two colours that work really well together.
Of course, with luxury comes price, and the cost of this vehicle is sure to leave a mark in your bank account. The base price for this car starts at $442,700 – and yes you read that number correctly. But I mean at the end of the day, it is a Rolls Royce, what did you really expect to pay?
Under the hood you will find a twin turbocharged 6.7 liter V12 engine with capabilities of 592 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. It comes with an 8 speed automatic transmission and is known to go from 0-60 in 4.5 seconds. Top speeds for this car are electronically limited to 155 miles per hour (250 km/hr).
Half a million dollars is not something that everyone can say they easily have on hand, especially to buy a car, but if you have the money then why not treat yourself? You will for sure be turning heads in this ride, and wouldn’t it be nice to invest the money in something that you can actually use and show off?
2022 Brabus 800 GLS Maybach
If the name Brabus is not familiar to you, don’t be surprised, not many people really know about it. It’s a German high performance automotive aftermarket tuning company that’s known to specialize in Mercedes-Benz, Smart and Maybach vehicles.
The 800 GLS Maybach is a tweaked version of the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600. This car is designed to provide comfort for 4 passengers and is quite…bright….on the inside. Mercedes Benz is a luxury brand of cars in itself, but for Brabus luxury isn’t the only thing a car needs and they will stop at nothing to prove this point.
With tweaks made to the twin turbo 4.0 liter V8 engine, the Brabus 800 generates 800 horsepower and 950 Nm of torque. It comes equipped with a 9 speed automatic transmission which can be shift with paddles (if desired) in manual mode. The top speed for this car is 250 km/hr, reaching 100 km/hr in just 4.5 seconds.
This car comes with a body kit and aerodynamic components, but that’s not all, it also gets new 24 inch Brabus Monoblock M “Platinum Edition” forged wheels. Talk about fancy! The wheels are made using very precise and high end processes and come with a Shadow Chrome finish guaranteeing strength and durability. Additionally, a new suspension module lowers the SUV by 25 mm to help with handling and style. The price for this vehicle is still unknown but rumour has it that the cost could be 2x more than $165,000 for the standard version GLS.
2022 Audi A8 L
With a 9/10 rating from the C/D, and the affordable price range to buy this car, this might be the one that a lot of people will tend to purchase the most. I mean $90,000 is a lot better than $400,000 for a luxury car isn’t it?
Audi released its fifth generation of cars in 2017 and this car is said to be the facelift to the fifth generation. The l60 TSFI model of this car comes with a twin turbo V8 engine under the hood that generates 453 horsepower and 487 lb-ft of torque. In the 0-62 MPH test, it achieved this in 4.4 seconds, very impressive if I do say so myself.
It comes standard with an 8 speed automatic transmission and AWD and will be available for purchase in Europe in December 2021. In terms of Fuel Economy ratings, the EPA estimates the standard six-cylinder powertrain version of the A8 sedan will earn 19 mpg city and 28 mpg highway. The V8 version has yet to be tested.
Safety is a big thing no matter what the type of car it may be, and for Audi, this luxury car comes equipped with the same type of safety features as any other high-end sedan would:
- Standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection
- Standard lane depature warning and lane keeping assist
- Available adaptive cruise control
For those who purchase the Driver Assistance package, it comes equipped with Traffic Jam Assist – the A8 will help out with acceleration and braking in heavy traffic, but the drivers hands can’t leave the wheel for more than a few seconds.
Overall, this car seems to be the winner among the rest of them in terms of not only pricing, but speed, looks, and safety, because come, on this car is pretty nice inside and out, don’t you think?
2022 Range Rover LWB
Driving on paved roads in luxury is one thing, but imagine driving in luxury off roads too – yes thanks to Range Rover, it is possible, and that in itself is luxury. This is the fifth generation for Range Rover and the vehicle was unvieled globally on October 27, 2021. Buyers have the option of either a turbocharged inline-six with a 48 volt hybrid system or a powerful 523 horsepower 4.4 liter twin-turbo V8 engine – built by BMW. All models come standard with off road capable features – all wheel drive system, a rear wheel driving system, and an air suspension that can be raised for extra ground clearance.
Something else that makes this car interesting is that this new generation of Range Rover, which was launched for the 2022 model year, will be sold alongside a 2022 model of the previous generation until inventory runs out. So get yours while you still can!
This car is fairly new, so it makes sense that not too much will be known about it. For example, the EPA estimate has not been announced for the new Range Rover, but it is expected that it will produce similar numbers to the other models before it. Also Range Rover has yet to release a detailed list for the standard and optional features for this vehicle but through good reviews, the Autobiography model is the one that is being recommended.
For the 0-60 MPH test, this car was able to achieve the speed within 4.4 seconds. Knowing all that you do about this car, I’m sure you would be eager to get to a dealership to buy one, but keep in mind that the base price of this car starts at $164,850. Not running so fast anymore hmmm. Luxury costs money yes, but what else could you get for your money?
2022 Lexus LX600 Ultra Luxury
Ahhhh finally a brand I can get behind….Lexus. The 2022 Lexus LX600 Ultra Luxury is part of the 4th generation of cars released by Lexus, officially becoming available to the market on October 14, 2021. Powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.4L V6 engine and generating 409 horsepower, 479 lb-ft of torque, it comes as no surprise that this vehicle is more powerful than the version before it, which made 383 horsepower.
Standard fixings in this car include a 10-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters and four-wheel-drive capabilities. This car is basically a super fancy version of a Land Cruiser – just a lot more nicer. It has a lot to offer, however you have to be willing to pay the price to get it, but trust me once you do, you will not regret it. It will feel like you now own an SUV that has the power to make you feel as if you’re in a private jet….doesn’t that sound nice?
In terms of interior design, with the Ultra Luxury package, Lexus outdid themselves…if I say so myself. The package comes offering four independent seats which can recline up to 48 degrees. Yes you read that right, RECLINING SEATS in a vehicle. Additionally, the rear seat display (behind the front seats) can fold down, in turn allowing for even more leg room in the back. Being a passenger in this vehicle definitely just got a whole lot more interesting.
When the vehicle goes on sale in Canada this year the price might really surprise you, and this just goes to show that nice things really do cost money. To own the all-new fourth generation 2022 LX600, you will need to have $106,950 (and this is just the starting price). I mean yes it is filled with a lot of nice things inside and out but is it really worth that much?
2022 Mercedes AMG SL Roadster
The 2022 Mercedes AMG SL Roadster is a very unique vehicle for more than just its looks. This car represents the seventh generation of sports cars for Mercedes and is the first to be developed by the Mercedes-Benz AMG performance division. It’s available in two different grades, SL 55 and SL 63, and will be seen in dealerships before the summer of this year.
Both grades come standard with a 4.0L twin-turbocharged M177 AMG V8 (a feature found in all 2022 Mercedes AMG SLs) and 9 speed automatic transmission, as well as all wheel steering and all wheel drive. The V8 is not an outrageous addition to a Mercedes-Benz, but it has received some tweaks for its application in the SL – a new oil pan, new intake and exhaust ducts, and repositioned intercoolers. For the SL 63, active engine mounts come standard while with the SL 55, it is an option that can be added.
The “entry level” car will be the SL 55 which comes sporting 469 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, in comparision to the SL 63 which will make 577 horsepower and 590 lb-ft. The reason for the difference is due to the higher turbo-boost pressure and improved internal air flow in the SL 63, as well as the modified engine software. Future model predictions for SL models for global markets will be powered by AMG’s 2.0L turbo M139 engine, which at current produces as much as 416 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque in other applications. Mercedes AMG also promised to deliver a performance-oriented plug-in hybrid model.
Although pricing is yet to be announced for this vehicle, it is estimated that the SL 55’s base sticker will come in at just under $100,000 and the SL 63 will be 20% more. Once the vehicle arrives in dealerships, we will see whether it can regain its status as a rolling success symbol. Oh and one more thing, did you know that the new R232 2022 Mercedes-AMG SL looks likely to rank as history’s best performing SL model?
2022 Brabus G900 Rocket Edition
With a name like rocket, boundaries are endless, and Brabus did a really good job of proving just that. The 2022 Brabus G900 Rocket Edition is based on the Mercedes AMG G63 and this SUV is the redefining factor for top-end cars under the Brabus name.
This vehicle meets and breaks expectations held by previous cars, leaving it in a tier all by itself. With help from the twin-turbocharged V8 4.5L engine under the hood, it generates 900 horsepower (309 more horsepower than the stock G63), and I mean come on, isn’t there power in numbers? But that’s not all, in the 0-62 speed test, it only took 3.7 seconds. Crazy I know. Although the vehicle sports a maximum torque of 922 lb-ft, it is electronically limited to 774 lb-ft to protect the drivetrain.
If I were you, I would get one while I still can – the company announced that it would only produce 25 cars, each with a base price of approximately $570,000 before taxes. This is definitely one that if you could afford it, get it because I can guarantee that the chances of seeing this around your city, are none to rare. It comes standard with a newly developed Widestar aerodynamic-enhancement concept, 24-inch aero-disc wheels, a valve-controlled sports exhaust system and a breathtaking Brabus masterpiece interior. Could you really want more out of a car?
The name Rocket within itself has so many associations with exploration and adventure, and this is one car that lives up to its namesake. It breaks barriers and sets its own standards, and they do say that the type of car you drive says something about you. Why not make this the one that helps define you a little better, because I mean at the end of the day, aren’t we all just a little curious to see how it would feel to live outside the box?
