Friday Feature: 2023 Jaguar F Type

We made it to another Friday Feature and this week’s edition is a real looker, if I do say so myself. In this week’s blog post, we will be covering the ins and outs of the 2023 Jaguar F Type – the true definition of a luxury sports car. The price range for this vehicle is a little surprising to me, given the fact the price seems a little low (in my opinion for a base model under the Jaguar name), starting at $87,200 and going all the way up to $124,000 for the highest model in the group.

In terms of which one is best to buy? I personally feel like all the models in this lineup each have something important to offer, it just all depends on the amount of money you are willing to invest (in the beginning) for a car of this caliber, because trust me, once you purchase one, more money will go into trying to enhance the already provided clean and sleek features. However, with this being said, the P450 Coupe’s V8 engine is the one that is the most tempting with the good sounding start up.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

Before we begin with this section, I think its important to note that as of 2022, all Jaguar F Types had their 4 and 6 cylinder engine options dropped, and replaced with V8 engines, and this continues unchanged in 2023. This is what makes Jaguar unique (well one way at least). Many car companies will offer their sports cars with turbocharged 4 and 6 cylinder options commonly, but not Jaguar! They decided to take the opposite approach actually, and now only offers the F Type cars with an old-school supercharged 5.0 liter V8 under the hood.

Horsepower ranges between the models as well (not surprisingly) with the base model (P450) making 444 and the high performance R configuration making 575. Both versions and the others in between, all have unique auditory experiences that comes from the exhaust. In the 0-60 mph test, the P450 convertible made it in 4 seconds, while the R configuration made it in just 3.5 seconds and although these are fast times, they unfortunately do not compare to a Corvette or Porsche 718.

Fuel Economy and Real World MPG

Both models mentioned earlier were put to the test and produced surprisingly similar numbers; the 575 horsepower AWD sees ratings of 16 mpg city and 24 mpg highway and the 444 horsepower P450 makes 17 mpg city and 24 mpg highway. The R Coupe was also put to the test and made 27 mpg while the P450 convertible had a 28 mpg result.

Infotainment and Connectivity

All F Type’s come equipped standard with a 10 inch touchscreen that has the capability of running the InControl Touch Pro software, Jaguar’s own infotainment software. The system also includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities which come standard. Optional additions include, a premium surround-sound audio system, a wi-fi hotspot, and wireless phone charging.

Safety and Driver Assistance Features

The Jaguar F Type comes standard with a lot of different driver assistance technologies but one that it is recommended (that doesn’t come standard) is blind spot monitoring. To find out information on the crash test results, please visit the National Highway Safety Act (linked here) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (linked here) websites. Key safety features include:

  • Standard forward collision warning and automated emergency braking
  • Standard lane-departure and lane-keeping assist
  • Available blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert

Warranty and Maintenance Coverage

Jaguar’s limited and powertrain warranties are competitive when compared to those of Audi and BMW. However, Jaguar has to stand out in at least one way…..and for this category it is with its industry-leading complimentary scheduled maintenance coverage.

  • Limited warranty covers five years or 60,000 miles
  • Powertrain warranty covers five years or 60,000 miles
  • Complimentary maintenance is covered for five years or 60,000 miles

Final Thoughts

As if you needed another reason to buy a JAGUAR, this might be the one that entices you. Interestingly enough, the British automaker announced that next year’s production run of cars (that’s the 2024 run), will be the last for this model…ever. To commemorate this farewell, Jaguar has decided to release a 75 final edition available on both the P450 and P575 models.
